Stamp Catalogs: Collectors of Saxony who live outside the United States usually use the German catalog Michel, which is a wonderful catalog for all of the German Area. Americans and Canadians usually use Scott and the Scott Classic catalog for most of the German States, Saxony included. The Scott general catalog is not very strong for Saxony or most of the other States for that matter. The Scott Classic is much better than the general Scott with expanded listings of specialists material included. The Classic catalog is worth the investment, if you are going to collect German States.
Stamp Albums: Most Americans use the pages from the Scott specialized album for Germany and Area but an increasing number of collectors are making their own pages. Remember there aren’t that many stamps for Saxony (and most of the other German States) and making your own album allows you the option of including specialist material such as multiples and cover in an attractive way.
Expense: The # 1 is a couple thousand dollars to buy in perfect condition ( hundreds with a small defect), but the rest of the country can be purchased for only a few hundred dollars.
Overall Grade: B+
